One day many, many years ago, I read about a magical hot spring located in the remote lands of Alaska. Trees heavy with snow, steaming waters, and icicles growing on heads of hair, gave way to an otherworldly winter scene, and I knew we had...

On our last day in Fairbanks, Alaska, we decided that we were going on an adventure. It didn’t matter that it was -29°F (-33°C) because we were ready to go snowmobiling at the North Pole. Okay…well we weren’t actually heading to the geographic North Pole, but...

We walked into the tiny airport and checked in at the front desk. There were no lines, no security measures, and only a couple of other people in view. We took a seat and waited. It didn’t take long until we were greeted by our...

When we planned a winter trip to Alaska, one of our big hopes was that we’d get to see the aurora borealis. We didn’t book a northern lights tour, but we had rented a car so we figured we’d do some northern lights chasing on...

15 Jan A Photo Essay: Winter in Anchorage, Alaska

Posted at 09:20h in Alaska, Blog, Photo Essay, United States by Jenna Kvidt 28 Comments

For some reason, Alaska has always seemed so unattainable. There’s so much to see over such a large area, and I figured we would need several weeks during both winter and summer to even scratch the surface. Well, after spotting cheap airfare last winter, we...

Instagram post 17858825125584253 One of our favorite places to snorkel in the Florida Keys is John Pennekamp State Park! We went on a tour with the state park and made our way out to the Christ of the Abyss statue for an afternoon of snorkeling. The reef there is beautiful and there is a ton of marine life. It was such a fun afternoon in the water! ⠀
Instagram post 17907979114372636 Last time we were in Key West we went kayaking in clear kayaks! We paddled through crystal clear waters and it almost felt as though we were gliding through the air. It was such a strange but amazing experience! ☀️ 🐠 ⠀
Instagram post 17870964514500753 Views of the 7 Mile Bridge and the Old 7 Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys. 🏝 We always love stopping and going for a walk on the old bridge when we are exploring the Keys! ⠀ ⠀ The Old Seven Mile Bridge is currently closed and under construction, but normally it’s home to a 2.2 mile biking and walking trail from Marathon to Pigeon Key. Can’t wait for it to open up again (in 2021), so we can make another pit stop at one of our favorite spots. In the meantime though, you can still take a boat tour out to Pigeon Key to learn about the fascinating history of the island and both of the bridges! ⠀
Instagram post 17862866437548795 Paraisailing is always such a fun adventure, especially when you have views over Key West like this! It was a gorgeous, sunny day out on the water, and we love how peaceful it is sailing through the sky ☀️🏝⛵️⠀
