Latvia surprised me time and time again over the course of my visit. I went on a solo trip for the Women in Travel Summit (WITS) conference and experienced so many exciting adventures in Latvia. One thing I love about conferences is that they sometimes...

“Make sure you go in the nude,” my new friends shouted amidst fits of laughter, “it will totally be worth it!” Ummm, yeah, not gonna happen…I thought to myself as I clutched my swimsuit tight. I was standing inside a hotel lobby in Sigulda, a small town...

So, of course we had to grab the camera and head down to the lake to watch the show. 😍 Minnesota is surprisingly a great spot to catch the northern lights, but we’ve only spotted them here a few times. We never seem to head outside and look for them, so I think we have to make it more of a priority going forward—the aurora is so fun to watch!

We never really stop to give it a look, but Micah decided to stop and photograph it this winter and it’s so fun to notice all the details of this strange tree!

The trail is 1.5 miles long and is regularly groomed. We wanted to snowshoe the loop trail, but unfortunately, we ran out of time. However, we did manage to walk around the Upper and Lower Terrace boardwalks to explore. As we wandered along the boardwalks, we caught a fantastic sunset from the upper terraces. The sky turned cotton candy pink and was reflected on the surface of the hot springs. What a sight!
The Mammoth Hot Springs at Yellowstone National Pa The Mammoth Hot Springs at Yellowstone National Park are hydrothermal features that some people say look like an inside-out cave. And that description seems pretty accurate to us! Hydrothermal features always fascinate me, and the Mammoth Hot Springs were no exception. Observing the multicolored terraces steam, hiss, and spurt, made us feel like we were on another planet. A boardwalk was built around the springs to create a trail that is roughly 1.75 miles long. You can explore both the Upper and Lower Terraces by walking along the boardwalks. It was so much fun to wander around the springs, especially with the contrast between snow, ice, and boiling spring water!
