12 Jan A Photo Essay: Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico has intrigued me for quite some time, but for one reason or another, I had yet to visit the island paradise that is so easily accessible from the United States. Micah was in Puerto Rico for a work project a few years ago, but he didn’t have a chance to leave the resort he was staying at. So, when my cousin decided to have a destination wedding in Puerto Rico and asked Micah to be the photographer, we were super excited to finally explore the “Island of Enchantment”.
As I began researching what to do on the island, I quickly amassed a large list of exciting adventures. Unfortunately, our schedule only allowed for us to stay a few short days, so needless to say, a return trip to the island is now high on our list.
We arrived on a Thursday afternoon and departed the following Sunday evening, which gave us an additional 1.5 days to explore surrounding the wedding festivities. It was difficult to decide which activities we wanted to add to our itinerary—I wanted a mix of culture and adventure, so we settled on a food and history tour of Old San Juan with Spoon Food Tours and a climbing, rappelling and zip lining tour with Rocaliza. They were the perfect mix of outdoor and urban adventure, and we definitely made the right choices. Some contenders on our list that we will have to check out on our next visit are the bioluminescent kayaking, snorkeling, touring a coffee plantation, beach hopping, flying on the world’s highest zip line, exploring the El Yunque National Forest, visiting the forts in San Juan and road tripping around the island.
Our trip only covered a tiny portion of the island, but here’s a peek at our adventures!
Have you ever been to Puerto Rico? What would you like to do there most?
