Micah and Jenna - Wander The Map

The 30 Before 30 Project

On this day, September 28th, 2013, I am officially declaring The 30 Before 30 Project–says the girl triumphantly with imaginary trumpets sounding in the background.

Micah and Jenna - Wander The Map

As I am getting perilously close to 30, (exactly two years to be exact–happy birthday to me!), I decided to join the slews of other list makers and gather a heaping pile of 30 pursuits to make me run around like a crazy woman before I enter the third decade of my life. Mainly this is just because I have a slight obsession with making lists–seriously, I make way too many checklists about everything, so I thought it would be fun to see how many adventures I can force upon myself in the next two years. I tried making a list that included many items that were easy to accomplish and attainable, but let’s face it, I failed miserably and couldn’t help myself from adding some harder to achieve items. What can I say, I will always be a big dreamer and high goal setter. I don’t know if I will be able to check off the entire 30 adventures in two years (due to both the time crunch and possible holes in my pocket), but even if I get close, I will have had a great time trying–or so I hope! Micah will be along for the ride, but he despises my list making capabilities and will not make one for himself–I think it’s because he is jealous of my youthfulness as he only has one short year before he hits the big 3-0 (ha!). When this list goes live, we *should* be en route to the UK and Ireland, so hopefully, I can take a running start and cross off a couple of the adventures right away. So, in no particular order, here we go!

1. Get PADI scuba certification
2. Take a cooking class to learn a Thai, Vietnamese or other type of Asian style dish
3. Go camping where you have to kayak to the campsite
4. Visit Antarctica
5. Take a trip to Thailand
6. Visit Jordan
7. Volunteer abroad
8. Be more active volunteering at home
9. Go skydiving (and convince Micah to come with)
10. Hike a volcano
11. Go white water rafting – we have been white water canoeing, but now we want to try rafting on a higher class river
12. Take a road trip through Colorado and visit Yellowstone
13. Go snorkeling at John Pennekamp State Park in Key Largo
14. Visit Miracle the dolphin in Clearwater
15. Take a road trip from Florida to Savannah, GA

17. Drive on the “wrong side” of the road

19. See the northern lights
20. Explore NYC
21. Take a road trip from Minnesota to Canada
22. Scavenger hunt race, like the CitySolve Urban Race
23. Swim with manatees
24. Try SUP yoga
25. Go to the Dolphin Research Center in Marathon, FL

Do you have a similar list? What items would you add?
