Macaroons

Sweet Treats in Paris

In honor of the #FriFotos theme Sweets, I decided to feature some of the delicious treats we loved in Paris.

My all time favorite sweet I ate while in Paris was the decadent crêpe I ordered at the Chez Suzette Crêperie in the Latin quarter. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.  It was filled with chocolate and topped with banana, chocolate and raspberry ice cream, nuts, whip cream and even more chocolate to finish it off.

I was hoping to try macaroons from various bakeries around Paris and compare them, but I just ate so much in our time there that it became near impossible to fit any more food into my stomach! I heard great things about the sweets at Ladurée, and I am ok with the fact these were the only macaroons I was able to eat–they really were delicious. Well, all of them except one. I ordered chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, raspberry, black currant, pistachio, salted caramel, and rose.  My favorites were the salted caramel and the black currant; the rose, not so much. I should have known that I wouldn’t have liked it–anything that tastes like perfume is not for me. I was literally gagging and throwing a mild fit trying to get the taste out of my mouth. Micah looked at me like I had gone nuts..and looking back at the situation, rightfully so. Anyways, beside the rose flavored macaroon, they were all amazing!

I also enjoyed lusting over the delicious window displays we passed on practically every block. I wish I would have had a chance to try so many of these sweets–I had my eye on the raspberry tart in the photo below, but never made it back during opening hours to get it!  Guess it just means I’ll have to make another trip back to Paris to get one. 🙂
