A Photo Essay: Washington D.C.

Washington DC is a fast-paced, ever-changing city and the political center of the United States.  We spent some time over the holidays exploring our nation’s capital city. It was a chilly couple of days because we were coming from our “adopted home” of Florida, but we were so excited to have a break from the southern heat, especially around the holidays.

There is so much to explore in Washington D.C.–some of our highlights were the memorials around the National Mall area, visiting several of the Smithsonian Museums, eating dogs at Ben’s Chili Bowl, checking out the National Christmas Tree at the White House, smelling the flowers at the US National Arboretum and much more.  Here are some Christmastime photos of the city where there is always history in the making.

Absolutely gorgeous photos! I especially love the one that’s focused on the one soldier statue because it looks like he’s moving quickly during combat!

Thanks! I thought that was a fun one too–Micah gets that effect by zooming out fast while he is taking the picture. It give it the motion effect–he just told me he likes to call it the Star Wars effect, lol 🙂

It’s so awesome! HAHAHA! I definitely like calling it the Star Wars Effect better than the motion effect 😛

    Hi Jenna,
Fantastic, artfully-done photos! I especially like the ones in the Library and at FDR’s memorial. And the one of the Washington Monument with helicopter is stunning! Brava!
Your photo essay made me feel like I was there. Thanks!
